What was your idea of NYU coming in? I honestly kinda came here sorta on a whim? All I knew was I wanted to go to the best film school I got into so when I got in here (with a scholarship no less) my parents were just like “you’re going” and that was that. I really had no expectations other than NYC was gonna be really different from home which is what I wanted anyway.

What is it now? Oh boy. NYU is definitely a place that prioritizes their image and $$$ over their students which is a major issue. But at the same time, there were things I fell in love with here that I didn’t even know I would. I love that there is no campus. I love that the arts are a bigger deal than sports here. I love that I got to meet and interact with such a diverse (at least compared to my high school) array of people, and open my eyes to new perspectives. Yes, NYU has its problems, but I think going here has 100 percent changed me for the better and for that I will always be grateful.

Looking back what’s some freshman advice you might have needed that you can give now? 1) Pick your minor early. Still working on finishing your minor in your final semester really sucks. 2) Don’t fall hard for the first boy you meet freshman year. He will not break up with his long-distance high school girlfriend nearly as quickly as you think. 3) Work hard right away, don’t think it doesn’t matter just cause you’re not going to grad school. But also, C’s get degrees. 4) Join Local freshman year! I can’t believe I missed out on a whole year of this.

How many times have you cried on campus? I don’t think I have cried in any NYU buildings that were not a dorm actually. But I HAVE cried in a lot of stairwells while on the phone with my mom because I don’t need my roommates hearing me be vulnerable. Also, when my parents dropped me off freshman year I cried in Washington Square Park. So in total, 25 times maybe? That sounds both crazy high and kinda low? I really don’t know.

Greatest hope for the future? Uh that we actually buckle down and prevent climate change lol. But personally? I just wanna be satisfied.

What are the first things you’re going to do with your free time? READ. I miss reading for fun. Also I’m probably gonna re-binge The CW’s Hart of Dixie for the third time in a year just ’cause.
