NYU Will Be Inundated By Food Trucks Next Week To Benefit Relay For Life

The food truck is a magical vehicle for the NYU student, bringing specific and delicious food right to the curb of Washington Square Park. Next week, a whole fleet of the best ones are diving into the charity game for next week’s Food Truck Frenzy.
From Monday, April 23rd to Friday, April 27, food trucks across the Village will be supporting Relay For Life at NYU. From 5pm-10pm every day, different trucks will park at various high-NYU traffic locations, like next to Kimmel, Union Square, and right outside of Lafayette. Most importantly, a portion of every truck’s total sales from each night will be donated directly to Relay.
“I love that we are getting the larger NYC community involved and engaged with Relay For Life at NYU,” said Emily Soukas, the NYU event chair for Relay. “We’re able to help local businesses by driving customers towards them while simultaneously helping to raise money for our event and the fight against cancer.”
Of course, Relay for Life couldn’t do it alone. Soukas and the rest of the planning committee was able to get advice and support from NY Food Truck Association Founder and NYU alum David Weber. Weber and fellow NYU grad Kenny Lao are also the co-founders and owners of Rickshaw Dumpling, one of the trucks participating in the Food Truck Frenzy.
Other participating trucks include the orange coffee establishment Mud Truck, the everything-dinges Wafles and Dinges, sweetmobiles Coolhaus and Sweetery NYC, and tacos-on-the-go MexicueNY. The Frites N’ Meats truck will be there in spirit (they ended up otherwise booked last minute) and is graciously making a direct donation to Relay For Life at NYU. Also there in spirit is Kimchi Taco — they made a gift card donation, which is being used as a raffle prize.
If all goes well, Soukas thinks that Frenzy can only grow from here. “I think the Food Truck Frenzy is something that is really fun and I would love to see it be even bigger and better next year. Hopefully we will be able to team up with a larger on-campus organization such as IRHC or the Commuter Student Council to help make our reach even larger.”

So come out and frenzy in the tastiest way possible. Not only are you making your stomach happy and not walking too far, but you’re doing it for a good cause.
