To the dearest and most gentle readers of NYU Local,

Do you have questions pertaining to social etiquette, civility and common courtesy? Are you ever curious about how to politely respond to unexpected circumstances? Is the prospect of learning manners in this increasingly vulgar and disappointingly casual 21st century daunting to you?

Have no fear! We are delighted to introduce a new series for such queries, starring the lovely expert on P’s and Q’s, Miss Violet DeVille. Readers are invited to write for advice regarding matters of grace and poise in their everyday lives. The project of reviving this somewhat archaic form of etiquette will be challenging (and hopefully hilarious), but together we will triumph against the college slob and bring forth a new era of high and refined society. Miss Violet will do her absolute best to help transform the NYU student body into a more chivalrous and charming community one lovely letter at a time. Write away! No problem is too problematic! She’s simply dying to assist you!

Please send all questions to askmsviolet@gmail.com. Questions of general interest will be answered weekly on NYU Local.
