We love Bwog so we copied their questions and asked our graduating seniors them. You should check out Columbia seniors answering these questions!

Name, School, Major, Hometown: Addy Baird, CAS journalism and politics, American Fork, UT.

Claim to fame: I ran this blog with Kyla. I got stupid into the Mets during my undergrad career. I probably made more comments than anyone else in any class I took during my time here. I once took 18 credits on top of a job and an internship, and when I finally chilled out, I broke my femur. I’ll get to walk at grad with crutches, which I plan to decorate, and that certainly has to solidify my NYU fame.

Where are you going? I’m either going to D.C. or staying here. Or maybe Texas. I need a job, and I will very earnestly go wherever journalism takes me, but, to be honest, I want to die in Central Harlem.

What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2021?

  1. Wear whatever the hell you want. For some reason, when I came to Weekend on the Square, a bunch of people talked about how amazing NYU students dress. There are some who do, but you shouldn’t feel like you have to. I’ve been wearing yoga pants and a sweatshirt and a baseball cap to class all year and my quality of life has skyrocketed.
  2. Don’t be afraid to change your major if your interests change. There’s a lot of pressure to know exactly what you want to do from the very beginning at NYU, but college is and should be about figuring out what you really want to do with your life. I changed from journalism and French to journalism and politics and I am so glad I made the switch when I started to hate studying French.
  3. All your friends will move to Brooklyn. Most of them will probably love to the same five block radius in Bushwick. Don’t follow them there. Move to Harlem.

Oh, also: break up with your boyfriend.

“Back in my day…” It was called Hayden and it was old and perfect.

Justify your existence in 30 words or fewer: “Hi John. I have many questions of my own prepared. See you this afternoon.”

What was your favorite class at Columbia? Constitutional Law. What a jam. I sound so smart at parties now.

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? Hello, future employers who are Googling me! Hello, people I met on Bumble who are Googling me! Hey, mom!

One thing to do before graduating: I’ll keep up my streak of never pulling an all-nighter. I wanted to go to Strawberry Fest with Kyla but my femur did not want to do that, apparently.

Any regrets? I learned a lot but didn’t embrace the social scene until late into my college career. I was really serious about school and work for a long time. There’s a way to balance the two that I wish I would’ve figured out earlier.
