Does Timothée Chalamet Go Here?

The “Call Me By Your Name” and “Ladybird” actor might be the first NYU to student to reject Columbia — not the other way around.

Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet has been garnering huge amounts of media attention for his role. The young actor has been working his way up the film industry for years, making some pretty impressive pit stops along the way. Timothée has worked with James Franco, Armie Hammer, Claire Danes, and, apparently, NYU.

The 21-year-old actor originally enrolled at Columbia University, our upstairs neighbor and casual nemesis. However, he revealed to his Interstellar co-star, Matthew McConaughey that he “did a year at Columbia, and [he] just kind of floundered.” Don’t worry, Timmy, you definitely aren’t the first.

So, after dropping out of school in 2013 to act in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women and Children, it seems Timothée did what most Columbia rejects do: enroll at NYU. Specifically, Timothée took the Karlie Kloss route and joined Gallatin. Gallatin’s flexible study schedule makes it a hotbed for working students. That is if working means you’re chilling with Christopher Nolan and Selena Gomez.

It seems it was possible that Timothée attended during Fall 2015 and Spring 2016. That February, NYU couldn’t have been prouder of their prodigal son literally playing Jim Quinn in The Prodigal Son. Unfortunately, this butterfly had to go spread his wings, and there have been no publicized Timothée Chalamet sightings at NYU since then. In fact, he can’t even be found on the listserv like our dear AnnaSophia Robb can.

Yes, I also searched with his accent mark.

It’s because Timothée hasn’t taken a break from acting. He went from Prodigal Son to Call Me By Your Name and from there to Ladybird. He has had no time to catch up with us at Durden’s and probably far better things to do. So while it’s clear the native New Yorker no longer goes here, we only wish he would grace us with his presence every once in awhile. I mean, finals are coming up. Who would miss a chance to hole up in Bobst studying?
