Hey, Need A Light? The Best Cigarette Smoking Spots On Campus

What’s crazier: that NYU actually thought it could keep its students from smoking on the sidewalk outside of NYU buildings, or that as early as five years ago you could light up a cig in your Hayden single? It’s undeniable that there is a distinct (CIGARETTE) smoking culture at NYU.

Is it because we live in New York? Is it because we’re all disaffected artsy types? NYU Smoker Almost Burns Down Starbucks?

A fire erupted at everyone’s favorite Washington Square Starbucks at 5:30 P.M on Saturday that caused enough damage for it to shut down. A Starbucks spokesperson says the cause was an electrical fire, but employees disagree, saying that a lit cigarette butt in the planter outside a window caused a small fire, which traveled through a nearby vent, causing significant internal damage.

“The fire and damage was contained to the Starbucks location and did not affect Goddard,” added NYU spokesman James Devitt.

Counting the fire that almost started in Bobst, this would be the second time a smoking NYU kid almost burned down an NYU building. For now, students are going to have to find another place to hog tables as workers repair the damage and try to purge the smell of smoke from inside.

Starbucks should reopen on Tuesday morning, just in time to caffeinate your early classes.
