NYU Memes Hit Facebook, Students Lose Sleep

Last night, our Facebook timelines were flooded by a wave of memes posted to a page called “NYU Memes.” Initially, these image macros were a welcome distraction from looming homework assignments: they were just funny enough to keep us reading, and they provided a comforting feeling of community and togetherness.

That said, the page quickly spiralled out of control. Students posted hundreds of memes, and only a select few were in the least bit funny. As we attempted to sort through the outpour of content, we wished that the memes were hosted on Reddit where the bad content would have been quickly down voted into oblivion. Since that wasn’t the case, we’ve decided to save you from the giant time-suck that is NYU Memes by picking out the diamonds in the rough.

Yep, College Confidential Is Still Hilarious

As Thanksgiving nears, I realize I’m thankful for a lot of things – Parks and Rec, a moderately successful registration, Delivery.com, Black Friday, and College Confidential. Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about – either you posted your stats to the popular college discussion forum, begging other equally unqualified high school seniors to chance you, or you lingered on the forum, hoping that reading other posters’ anxieties would allay your own. I like to think that my own participation in the forum was relatively calm, but scanning through pages of posts to the effect of “I’M GONNA DIE IF I DON’T GET IN!!!!!” and “I’m having heart palpitations about my NYU application!!1!,” I realize that my own desperate posts probably weren’t as clear-headed as I’d like to think. Now that the first round of Early Decision hopefuls have applied, College Confidential has gotten a fresh dose of crazy, and we’ve gone ahead and picked through the anxiety-ridden posts to find the best ones for y’all (again).
