High-Brow Festival Brings The Cream-Your-Shorts Factor

The New Yorker Festival begins this Friday, October 3, and will be a three-day celebration of thinkers and entertainers. This festivus will allow you to attend discussions with your favorite authors at a pretty reasonable ticket price. However, according to the website, most of the events have already been filled up so I’m not so sure what you would be able to get at such short notice.

But perk up! There will be book signings by the authors throughout the weekend, so if your literary idol happens to be Haruki Murakami or Salman Rushdie, be sure to check out their signing schedule. And unlike the events, these are free, so arrive early!

Some of these events are definitely drool-worthy. For example, a panel discussion about covering the presidential candidates, headlined by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Bill Keller (!), Peggy Noonan (!!) and Jack Shafer! Holy guacamole, that is like a conglomeration of all the most admirable people ever.
