If there is one thing that a celebrity wants, it’s for people to think he/she is a good, philanthropic charitable person. One of the best ways they can do this, it seems, is by demonstrating care about the environment.

Celebrities from Alicia Silverstone to John Travolta have “gone green” by various means lately, and some more authentically than others. Here’s a roundup of the greenest (and faux-greenest) celebs:

Alicia Silverstone: If you haven’t had enough of the former Clueless star and her horrifying parenting skills, here’s a little more: The actress behind Cher Horowitz’s dramatic love story launched her website The Kind Life in 2009, accompanied by her vegan guide, The Kind Diet. Silverstone has also found ways to make strides for animal rights activism – she appeared nude in a PETA commercial, then named her son Bear Blu. If you go to see one show at the Skirball Center this year, see CIRCA. The globally acclaimed acrobatics/dance spectacular from Brisbane, Australia made its U.S. debut last night at Skirball, who will host performances through the weekend. Basically, it’s a ninety minute physically astonishing extravaganza in which seven half-naked acrobats with bodies like Olympians do all types of ill acrobatic shit that you never knew was possible. And with tickets only $12 for NYU students, it’s well worth it for this one-of-a-kind experience.

CIRCA blends highly lyrical contemporary dance, thrilling acrobatic stunts, and other extreme circus skills into one exhilarating performance piece. It’s all here: people launching each other across the stage, people doing headstands on trapezes, people playing The Floor Is Lava with each other’s bodies — sometimes with sparkly red pumps on.
