Update: Classes To Resume Monday, Go Take A Shower At The Gym

In an email sent to the student body moments ago, NYU Vice President for Crisis Management Jules Martin announced that classes will resume on a normal schedule Monday, November 5.

In the meantime, showers at Palladium are open to students 24/7, and hot water has been recently restored to Coles Sports Center, where “faculty and their families have been availing themselves of the hot showers there.”

Kimmel and Weinstein continue to serve meals, and cots are still available in Kimmel for students living in evacuated dorms, though Martin notes many relocated residents chose to “make their own accommodations,” which likely did not include a housecall from Alec Baldwin

NYU installed generators today to restore power to its 20,000-square-foot data center downtown, which will “allow NYU to make serious headway in getting back on line the administrative computer systems we had shut down to prevent damage.”

Transportation to food markets was arranged for faculty and students currently living in NYU housing without power, and student volunteers have begun distributing food to elderly housing residents, Martin said. The College of Nursing also went door-to-door, checking on elderly residents.
