BREAKING: NYU Cancels Monday Classes Because Of Hurricane Sandy

All of your dreams just came true. NYU just posted this message on their Facebook page:

With the announcement of the suspension of MTA service this evening, the University will cancel classes, events, and activities, and be closed for normal operations tomorrow, Monday, Oct 29. Stand by for more for an email to the NYU community with additional information, which will come shortly.

Drink responsibly. NYU Local will update with more information as it comes in.

UPDATE [1:30 pm]NYC has ordered mandatory evacuation of Zone A, which is mostly coastal lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Not sure what zone you’re in? WNYC has a great map that they will live-update as conditions change.

UPDATE [1:44pm]: NYU Poly has announced cancellation of Monday classes as well.

 UPDATE [2:29 pm]: NYU buildings (not dorms) will be closed at 5pm today. From the NYU Facebook page:

We plan to close all NYU academic buildings that would customarily be open on Sunday for their normal operations at 5 pm this evening. This does not apply to Housing, which remains in operation.

UPDATE [2:57 pm]: NYU transportation will stop running at 9pm tonight.

    I have friends in Poly who are also wondering if their classes are cancelled, but their website doesn’t seem to have any updates. Does anyone know anything?

    Columbia University has also cancelled Monday classes.
