Here at NYU Local, we love a good burger, so naturally when we heard about the opening of Burger Studio in U-hall, we were curious. Sure, the name is pretentious, but we had high hopes for the new NYU dining establishment. The burger was above average; it beat the Kimmel burger hands down, but it was no where near Shake Shack quality.
For those of you with meal plans, Burger Studio is a great alternative to eating at Palladium everyday. In addition, with the small market, you can buy everything from solo cups to microwave burritos without even leaving the building.
One of the best parts of Burger Studio is the touch screen ordering kiosk. You can custom build your own burger, complete with cheese, pickles, chipotle mayo, and more. According to NYU, the concept is that you can craft your own “masterpiece,” but we’d describe it as more of a paint by numbers system. Our burgers themselves were a little overcooked, but you can easily remedy that with your custom toppings. The downside to the touch screens lies in the wait. It took us about 20 minutes to get our food, and we were hungry!
The delicious french fries were the best part of the meal. They’re thick cut ‘taters that are asking to be doused in malt vinegar. They come with the meal, and we recommend saving them for dessert after you eat your burger. Save the best for last, right?
In addition, the attached P.O.D. Convenience Stor is the perfect place to get your overpriced Bagel Bites on those mornings when you’re hungover and want to fill that gaping void in your soul with food but aren’t ready to face the outside world yet. They have a decent selection of all the things college student should eat like microwavable frozen food and instant pasta. They also have home supplies including trash bags, ziploc bags, and paper plates.
At the end of the day, we enjoyed our time at Burger Studio. It wasn’t the greatest burger ever, but it ranks among the top dining experiences at NYU, and the fries are actually good. If you’re in the area and you’re hungry, go for it!

No offense, but if this is an article about the new food court in U-hall, how on earth do you fail to mention the unfreakingbelievable self serve Milkshake???!!!
