Comedy is coming to NYU, and we’re not talking about your professors’ April Fools jokes (but those can be pretty great, too).
Kicking off Thursday, NYU’s first “Make Me Laugh” Comedy Festival features comics that have performed on Comedy Central, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and Late Night with David Letterman. “Make Me Laugh” promises to do just that – and in the comfort of NYU’s residence halls.
The Festival’s first stop is 7 pm this Thursday at Rubin, and the remaining five shows will be held at Carlyle, Palladium, Weinstein, and Hayden, closing with a “Funny Females Showcase” at Gramercy on April 21st. Admission to each show is free (lucky us!) and there will be free food, drink, and raffles.
If you can’t make the Thursday show, don’t fret! The Festival will stop by Carlyle on Friday at 7 with an appearance by comic Dan Wilbur.
From Last Comic Standing, contestant Myq Kaplan will perform during the festival, as well as Best Week Ever’s Yannis Pappas. Also, don’t miss Nate Bargatze, whose special recently premiered on Comedy Central.
And from NYU, Alex Edelman, Ester Steinberg, and Billy Procida will perform throughout a series of showcases.
Co-sponsored by the IRHC and One Step Ahead, the “Make Me Laugh” Festival promises to beat your roommate’s knock-knock jokes for no cost. And considering you don’t have class on Friday, why not give it a shot?

Note: Contrary to what the poster shows, Program Board is not involved.
