Yes, as we learned the hard way last week, NYU isn’t exactly the ideal college for for a traditional college experience, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some worthwhile college-y events here. Tonight, NYU’s 3rd annual Flurry! provides “a wonderful night of ice skating in Central Park” just for us college kids. Just don’t expect any keg stands.
The Wollman Rink (south end near the pond) is reserved for NYU students from 6 – 10 p.m., but the NYU Inter-Residence Hall Council (IRHC) is providing free double-decker buses from Kimmel that leave every 15 minutes throughout the night. Transportation and an entire night of ice skating rental is $5.
Even if you haven’t heard of the it yet, Flurry! is quickly turning into NYU’s most popular annual event — not that there’s much competition (sorry, Strawberry Fest). The IRHC has been pretty successful in organizing the past two, maybe even too successful — I vividly remember knocking about ten freshmen onto the ice last year.
Still, according to the Facebook event, almost 2,000 students are attending and there’s already a Twitter hashtag: #Flurry2010. Is it just me or does it smell like school spirit?

Woo! Go IRHC!
