L Train Delayed After Person Killed at 1st Ave Station

Before you start bitching about L train delays, Gothamist is reporting that someone jumped in front of the train this morning and is now dead. According to the MTA, “Due to a police investigation at the 1st Avenue Station, there is no L train service in both directions between the Bedford Avenue Station and the 8th Avenue Station. Please expect delays in L train service at this time.” That means Williamsburg commuters are stuck on campus; expect the campus hipster level to stagnate until the MTA gets this resolved.

Update: 1010wins.com (and NYU Local reader Chris Kennedy) reports that “train service on the line, which was suspended for nearly 1 1/2 hours in both directions, has resumed.” A 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the 1st Ave. Station. (via Gawker)

As I said to Jess, this sucks. I have to take this train later. Couldn’t this guy have thrown himself off the G train? Nobody would have noticed the delay since the G train never comes anyway.

To read the link posted by Josh disgusts me. A person died and he’s more concerned about any inconvenience or delay to his world that he might encounter than another’s life.
It makes me sick to know there are people out there like him.

Just took the L-train into Manhattan and there were no delays. 2:45pm

Tracy, you responded to a comment I made, not a link I posted. Please learn your internet terms next time you decide to fart some semblance of an opinion online, like you did above.

Lily would probably get annoyed with me if I suggested that you, Tracy, should throw yourself in front of a train, so I won’t stoop to that.

Have a wonderful day! God bless.

I guess I was so shocked by your “Comment” that I mistakenly wrote link. Link, comment what’s the difference you still got your point across as being cold and having an indifference to a tragedy and more concerned about its impact on your daily routine. Show respect for yourself and others.

I do have to agree with Tracy, comments like Josh’s just aren’t necessary. It is one thing to make that kind of offhand comment with a close group of friends with an implied sense of humor in it but things are different on the internet.

Hey hey hey, relax kids, (KIDS!)

We all know that the mta service has been shit lately because of the strikes, the fare hikes, the decrease in employees on the tracks…

Another train delay i thought when i got on the train today.. Luckily i rode my bike into work on time but, after hearing that a man jumped into the subway….

Well to say the least, the delay was reasonable (this time…)

Btw the hipsters are on the l train because of douche bags like jacob and josh, LOL

I mean, don’t we have a rule about having to post your first and last name to be in the comments? For exactly the reason(s) “will h” demonstrated above?

Good. I don’t know why anyone would want to go to Brooklyn anyway.
