Get Your Meme On at the NYU MemeFactory

Us geeky, obsessive bloggers lacking substantial social life understand the cultural significance of a meme. Thus, we are delighted to see that NYU ACM and Free Culture @ NYU are throwing NYU’s first MemeFactory in two weeks, with theatrical/academic guests What We Know So Far.

If you’re a bit confused about what a MemeFactory actually entails, so are we. But according to our contact, the event is “about one and one half of one hours of 3 projectors, 3 gentlemen, more pictures of cats, videos of fails and power ratings over 9000 than any previous MemeFactory. We’d call it bang-for-your-buck, but damn… this shindig is $Free! So don your pancake hat – or your furry suit, we wont judge – and get ready to Get Down, get WeeGee’d and of course… Crank That.”

If that doesn’t sell you, you either don’t spend enough time on the Internet or you’re actually a normal human being.

The NYULocal Entertainment section totally argued via e-mail about who was going to get to cover this. So yes we are pretty much the definition of “geeky, obsessive bloggers lacking substantial social lives.”

This is basically a conference about my ukulele, right?

“Argued via email.” The sad truth of my life.

I attended this event last year at 3rd Ward, and it was amazing! I highly recommend it.
