I am always surpirsed at the talent NYU pull in for commencement. Sorry to see it move uptown. Loved mine in WSP. In '97 - we had Bill Cosby, who knows the importance of edcuation, but make it fun and fun of it at the same time.

Mike, Pat, Kate - children, children, children. It's a shame none of you are mature enough to see past the "who" of the commencement speaker, and just accept that the occasion itself is so intrinsically exciting. Perhaps someday you'll realize that this day represents an important passage in each graduate's life. To some, if not most, it's scary -- that's how you sound. Why can't we all just realize that this commencement was memorialized by the fact that the Secretary of State of this country spoke, regardless of who he/she is. Don't you think there maybe was something else she could have been doing? You should feel honored by the fact that the hierarchy of our government is smart enough to realize that the world's future is in the power that our young people hold. Why not, at least, be grateful for that. Maybe the excitement you felt was because there were so many thousands who were grateful and showed it. Best of everything to all of you.

http://www.slate.com/id/2208425/ - I found her jab towards the Yankees particularly amusing since she retroactively became lifelong Yankee fan at age 52 when, shopping for a U.S. Senate seat, she adopted New York state as home sweet home.

@Mike: NYU is a ridiculously liberal school, it really shouldn't come as a surprise that a member of the Obama cabinet, also one of the most prominent Democrats on the national stage for almost two decades, would get as much applause as Sec. Clinton did at graduation.
