Want to meet your CAS student council hopefuls? Too bad, because the meet and greet was today at Kimmel at 5pm, and no one sent out an e-mail about it until 4:55pm. But the elections open tonight at 10:30pm with polls closing 48 hours later at 10:30pm on Saturday. Apparently, due to “system updates,” the elections won’t be taking place on NYUHome as in years passed. Instead, you’re expected to click a link in an e-mail to vote. Looks like the turnout will most likely be even more sparse than usual. (Thanks to a tipster for the heads up!) Full e-mail after the jump.

Once again, astounded that these people are allowed to reign over a 100K budget. They have successfully formed a CAS crime syndicate: a consortium of the most nerdy, naive, gang of social outcasts that could be vomited from the stomach of the NYU student body.

In Prof. Tucker’s Comparative Politics course he recently spoke about corruption in democratizing societies that are establishing a free market economy: government officials in charge of auctioning off natural resources or formerly state-owned industries would ostensibly be selling to them to the highest bidder but, somehow, only the brother or cousin of the official in charge of the sale would show up at the auction.
The CAS council doesn’t need prior term requirements; they exist in a de facto form already. All it needs to do is ensure a select few have the requisite knowledge and resources (conveniently provided to those already on the council) to be elected, and we have candidates like Ali Accarino running unopposed and who “As your President, I want to make this YOUR Council: what are your thoughts, ideas, concerns, likes, dislikes, etc? “

It’s super-duper awesome to use the abbreviation for “et cetera” in your campaign speech that isn’t really a speech! =D

What Megan Cruz lacks in transparency and candor she definitely makes up for with impressive consistency!
