The Gallatin Open House was briefly interrupted tonight when a group of about 15 TBNYU! protesters started pounding on the newly renovated building’s windows Malevolence download. This prompted an NYU administrator, the same one who busted through the Kimmel barricade, to dash outside and squelch. He told them he would have the NYPD remove them if they continued. They stopped.

Once again the tactical geniuses at TBNYU discredit a worthy cause through obnoxious methods.
Check out the hands of the bald-headed, neck-tied guy in photo 4 and how badly they want to be wrapped around some TBNYU! neck.
I was wondering what was keeping me entertained during my experiment today. One of the chants was catchy… something with numbers….. i don’t know, but despite the entertainment, i have to agree with Pat, as usual.
These smelly hippies are an embarrassment to NYU.
Yeah, I agree with Pat on this one as well. TBNYU are great entertainment and may very well have certain good intentions, but they certainly aren’t doing anything to bolster support for their cause when they resort to these “methods” of “protest” …
Banging on the windows is a bit obnoxious, but I support them being out there and protesting. It was good choice to be there because of the high number of Trustees attending and because Sexton would actually have to acknowledge them.
There was a cute asain girl there. Though I’m still pissed at TBNYU for fucking up my show last Thursday.
it’s like flash mobs, except not fun. or funny. definitely agree with Pat.
Where was Drew?
Oh he was there

Here’s a funny notion: Maybe TBNYU! (so sick of that superfluous exclamation point) might have made it clearer why, exactly they were there, and gotten a response to their grievances if they had, say, gone into the open house and asked a question related to their concerns.
Or perhaps we’re misreading the purpose of this whole protest, and the banging on the windows thing was to show their vehement opposition to corporate glass.
@Ned,
There were signs, You’re supposed to read them.
They were there protesting the tuition hike as well as NYU’s tuition in general.
Laaaaaaame, as usual.
@Cooper the types of grievances they’re raising tend to be a bit more nuanced than can fit on a sign. Besides, there’s an easy solution to high tuition: go somewhere else.
Beyond that, pounding on glass outside the open house in lieu of engaging in dialogue inside is a decidedly one-way, and thus unproductive, conversation.
All in all, it seems to me that TBNYU! carries out these protests just for the thrill of feeling like they’re somehow doing something. Without actually, you know, doing anything.
