Pretty sure that judging by the tendency of people on the internet to respond through snark and trolling and this not being a scientific survey, that this does NOT actually represent student opinion. lol.

Dear NYU Administration,

Hopefully someone from the NYU administration has seen this poll. Take it to heart and arrest these students. They are disruptive and they are violating multiple laws.
PLEASE, get rid of them. I’m an NYU student and I am so incredibly tired of all of the protesting. If they don’t like NYU, they can leave or better yet you can kick them all out, now I know that would lose money for the university, but the end result would be well worth it.

I agree these morons are completely disruptive, most of their demands are garbage. Why the hell would you make Bobst public?! Bobst is always so crowded how can you force students to share their library with the bums on the street? Why am I paying more than 40,000 for some homeless guy to walk in and take the books. Also, did these idiots consider the safety risks? The 13 scholarships for Palestinians is stupid as well, why do they receive the money when the rest of us are probably up to our ears in debt? I am particularly angry because this is harmful to commuter students, who rent lockers on the 3rd floor of Kimmel, this is akin to someone blocking your dorm.

Thanks for the constant updates! Has there been any more property damage?

We ought to be proud that somebody has the courage to do something for the Palestinians in Gaza!!

GO AWAY TBNYU
Feb 19, 2009 20:10

I hope they stay there until 1am so NYU can arrest those bastards already!!! Get rid of them. They’re complete morons and should be arrested and expelled. STFU TBNYU…

Anyone who doesn’t support TBNYU never has the right to complain about anything at NYU ever again! Whether we agree with them or not, at least they are trying to make a change at their school.

Ariel H.,

I don’t support or agree TBNYU but I would like to believe that I should have the right to complain.

Using your logic, If I don’t support every U.S. president, whether I agree with them or not, I shouldn’t complain since they are trying to some good in their country.

oh so tired of you rich assholes
Feb 19, 2009 20:24

I fully support the actions of TBNYU! and thank GOD someone had the balls to do something on this campus. Students are treated like sheep going through a machine, and not all of us have the disposable income to feed their ulterior projects oversees while we don’t have enough classrooms on our own campus. I want to know where my money is going and it is as simple as that. I don’t know why this cynicism and jaded bullshit is filling up so much of this reporting space when there are students who CLEARLY know what their risking and sacrificing, who CLEARLY know how inflammatory and radical this action is, and are still sitting there. How about instead of calling them crazy or marginal, you ask WHY would someone be that invested. These are your peers, and they have spent a lot of time investigating, negotiating, and strategizing to create productive change and all you can bitch about is that you lost a dining hall for a night? None of the posters or commenters on any of these sites have spent the time or energy that the TBNYU!-ers have on this campaign. They have read an article. Give these people some credit.

this is stupid

this is completely stupid. get over yourselves. you are not representing the whole NYU student population.. if anything, you are annoying the crap out of most of us.

I’m a recent alum. I respect TBNYU’s right to their views and their right to voice them, even though I find most of their demands unrealistic, irrelevant to daily life at NYU, and/or in complete disagreement with my own views. But I don’t think they could have picked a worse method to get their point across.

This will only breed resentment. People generally don’t like when others nominate themselves as spokespeople for a large population with many different opinions. And they especially don’t like their everyday lives being disrupted.

I agree with Ariel.

BTW “By Stander”,

Well, next time you dislike something about NYU (assuming you attend NYU) remember that you had the opportunity to join a group of people who were attempting to actually make a change (instead of just running their mouths like many other people at NYU) and instead you merely acted as a “bystander”. You’re just the same as people who don’t vote in elections and then complain about the government.

I would be more than happy to know where our tuition money is going, I would love to have my tuition lessened or stabilized, but I am also realistic. I do not agree with all of NYU’s expenditures, but they are not exactly splurging right now. There’s no money for security guards to be positioned on the second floor of kimmel, yet these students want us to offer 13 extra scholarships, to students from Gaza? No NYU faculty or staff are getting raises this year, yet they want us to donate our surpluses to the Islamic University in Gaza? I do not understand these demands in any sense! They have nothing to do with the primary cause of the protest, and they have turned many people against their fight, myself included. I think that several of their demands are ridiculous and simply unfathomable, and some, including public access to Bobst are idiotic considering how hard it can be to get course materials already, but they ruin any argument with these exterior motives. I’m sorry, but I will not support your manipulation of the university and its students to sneakily popularize your views on foreign politics. I may be siding with NYU, but I am not a sheep – so do not try to use me in the same way.

I disagree with you, I disagree with many of your causes, and I want you out of my dining hall. Goodnight.

I’ve been here for four years and can’t believe the petty bullshit these kids protest. I couldn’t dream up a more unbelievably ineffective method of “changing the system.” Riots no longer work in New York City, not to mention NYU. If you want NYU to take you seriously, grow up and fight like adults. Quit bitching.
