After NYU Local’s post about You Are The Olsen Twins, Danielle Baskin (Steinhardt ‘10) received the following Cease and Desist Notice in her inbox:

Subject: Cease and Desist Notice

Dear Sirs,

It has come to our attention that you are republishing original content belonging to our clients on your website www.youaretheolsentwins.com.

Your unauthorized use of original material is in violation of 17 U.S.C. Section 101 et seq. and you could be liable for statutory damages as high as $150,000 as set forth in Section 504(c)(2) therein.

If you do not immediately remove the copyrighted material from your website, and notify us in writing that you have done so, we will have no choice but to pursue legal action against you. We require the copyrighted material be removed and written notice given that such has been removed, by no later than February 2, 2009.
