Avoid the Folly of Buying Books From NYU – There Are Better Options

If there’s one thing a college student should learn by their sophomore year, it is to avoid the bookstore when buying books for the new semester National lampoons animal house download. As freshmen, we didn’t know any better. Avoid the ridiculous prices and long lines and buy somewhere else.

There are many places online where a student could buy books. There’s Half.com, Textbooks.com, and CampusBooks.com, just to name a few. However, the best website to use would be BigWords.com. It uses a sweet program that compares prices from a bunch of different websites and creates the best and cheapest combination of which books to buy from where. Why waste hours comparing different websites when a simple mouse-click can do the job in a few seconds?

And if you’re one of the many students who buy textbooks and never open them, rent them instead. If you feel like you might possibly be doing the readings this semester, Chegg.com offers cheap textbook rentals that are 65-85% off the original price. They’ll mail you your book(s) and when you’re done with them, you mail them back free of charge. And for those who are environmentally conscious, Chegg.com plants a tree for every book that is rented. Not only are you saving money, but you’re saving the environment as well. And in this shit storm of an economy that we’re in, we need to save every penny we can.

I made the mistake of buying from the bookstore =/ I’m thinking of just returning it all and saving by buying online, but the thought of waiting on more lines carrying several textbooks is just daunting- and quite frankly, I’m lazy.

Next year though. Definitely buy online next year.

Thank you for writing this. It makes me sad how many NYU students still buy their books at the bookstore. Aren’t we supposed to be at least a little intelligent? Sometimes? It doesn’t have to be all the time.

I would recommend http://www.BookDealFinder.com to all college students. I get all my books in about 15 minutes and save around $250 per semester. You just can’t go wrong with them!

I like to use search engine based websites to search and locate my textbooks. One of the best sites that I have seen out there is http://www.bigwords.com. The reason I think they’re the best is that they compare many items at once, and calculate the best combination of stores to buy at, including coupons and shipping. They also let you include or exclude international editions, and even renting is an option through them. They even let you choose the shipping time and then calculate the lowest price using the right shipping type at every store. Its an amazing search engine for textbooks for sure and they have saved me a lot of money every semester.
