Turns out that the male fashion maven is straight, grew up in Indiana, and loves business.
If you aren’t already obsessed, check him out here: The Sartorialist.

I agree with Cody – I was so impressed with how calculated and business-savvy he was. He started out in sales/marketing and made his way to fashion so effortlessly. And now, he’s a brand – absolutely fabulous!
He stayed afterwards and talked to EVERY SINGLE PERSON that stood in line to meet him (there were about 20 of us and it was about 10 pm at this point). I’m sure he was exhausted but he was so patient and attentive to each person. Yay Scott!
Also, FBA says that Scott apparently scouted someone in the audience yesterday but was unable to catch her:
“Scott apparently did a little scouting himself, and has asked my assistance in finding a girl he spoke with last night. I’m looking for a girl who was tall, long hair, wearing dark jeans with slashes of fading all down the front. She was one of the last people to talk to Scott as he was standing by the door getting ready to leave. A smaller girl in a short gray coat was also talking to Scott at the same time. If this sounds like you or someone you know, please email me at ccb265@nyu.edu.
Thanks!”
If that’s you, GET ON THAT!

Holy cow, I love his website, why wasn’t this announced earlier?? And how did everyone else find out about this?
Sadly, I wasn’t able to make this event! Please indulge my shallowness for a moment: I’m very curious to hear what you guys thought about his outfit. I can’t get a good enough view from these photos…. Did it attempt to compete with some of the folks on his site? Any noteworthy details…?

His outfit was magnificently bland.
It’s pretty ironic but I wonder if obsessing over style makes him eschew his own.

I was there and it was all so odd. I stumbled upon the Sartoriliast a few years ago and his blog always had a way of making me feel like I was having this private conversation with him about him about style. It was pretty hilarious to walk into a room this large. It was also amazing just how analytical and collected he was in describing his work. Since his rise there has been a lot who have tried to do what he does, you see why he just blows them away.
