Editor’s Note: Part one of NYU Local’s “Bring It” series, in which the many sports teams and athletes of New York University are photographed in action.
Today we feature the NYU Bobcat as an introduction into the world of NYU’s many Club Sports. Itself a club sport, the Mascot Program invites students to don the furry mask of anonymity and incite their fellow students to cheer or jeer, anything other than just sit there.
The person behind the mask, who must remain nameless in order to preserve the identity of the Bobcat as a “nebulous being,” jumps into the suit because they enjoy acting out in ways they usually would not.
I invited the Bobcat out to devour some Papaya Dog deliciousness with me and deliver some high fives to the Washington Square Park crowd; enjoy the photographic evidence of our exploits.

How does the Bobcat eat? Does the mouth lead to his/her mouth inside? This is a mystery that will plague me for the next hour or so…
