Making shit up about your opponent’s record is slimy, but that’s sort of a run-of-the-mill, “politics ain’t beanbag” kind of slimy. But telling large crowds that your opponent was “pallin’ around with terrorists?” Trying to raise questions about whether or not he is, in fact, a terrorist himself? That’s practically inviting some racist yahoo with an interest in vigilantism to pull a Travis Bickle. It’s unbelievably immoral and irresponsible. And it’s the kind of shit that should immediately disqualify you from serving as county comptroller, let alone president.
