If you live under a rock or don’t watch reality television, then you probably don’t know who Teresa Giudice is. Commonly known as the table-flipping, short-tempered Italian housewife, Teresa is by far one of my favorites of the Housewife franchise, specifically from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Recently, however, many fans of the show have turned against her and her craziness to the point where there are so few people on Team Teresa that I feel like a pariah.
Is this turn due to editing or is Teresa truly becoming a vicious monster? When fans were asked yesterday on the Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Facebook page whether people are on Team Gorga (Teresa’s sister-in-law) or Team Teresa, people left sweet comments such as:
For those of you whore are not familiar with the show, Teresa Giudice and her brother, Joe Gorga, have family issues, including Teresa’s tumultuous relationship with sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga. Other important people to mention are Caroline Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita, and Kathy Wakile. Manzo and Laurita were once family-friends with the Giudices but after Caroline’s horns popped out of her head, she turned on Teresa, claiming that Teresa broke up Caroline’s relationship with her sister Dina Manzo. Laurita, on the other hand, is flakier than snow. Kathy is Teresa’s cousin who tries to be the mediator in every situation, but always winds up poking her nose in somebody’s else’s business.
Last year, when Teresa released her second cookbook, she made comments in it that were meant to be interpreted as jokes, yet these jokes were the last straw between her and her castmates. New York University sophomore Brandy Collins spoke positively about watching Teresa on the show and about Teresa’s comments in the cookbook, claiming, “The things written in the cookbook were clearly meant to be humorous! Anyone who can’t realize that is just an idiot (*cough cough* Caroline).” Saying that Caroline is “1/16th Italian” or that “her sister-in-law copies her” in a cookbook is not malicious in any way. The girls are just looking for any little piece of evidence they can use to take Teresa down at this point.
Why is it that no one is on Team Teresa any more? What did she exactly do to make people turn against her? Oh, that’s right, she became successful. Teresa placed fifth on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. She has three bestselling cookbooks, a hair care product line called Milania, and a liquor drink inspired by a bellini called the Fabellini. It may be cliché to say, but a lot of this angst appears to root from jealousy. The Manzo family failed at marketing BLK. Water (which is basically black-colored water). Melissa Gorga failed at her music career. Kathy Wakile has been baking and cooking for the past two seasons and there’s still no success. T. Kyle McMahon, who runs the Reality TV Gifs website, commented on the drama, saying that, “they’ve all implied that she’s ‘not intelligent’ yet she’s making the most in endorsements.”
Although Caroline claims Teresa is in a “fabulicious haze,” Teresa is just branching off from the show. It’s unfortunate to say, but Caroline and the other girls need Teresa. Without Teresa, the show would be boring. Who really cares about Lauren Manzo’s white girl problems or about whether Laurita’s daughter is turning into Linsday Lohan or not?
What really ticks me off is that the other girls nitpick at everything Teresa says, yet they walk around with this holier than thou attitude. Caroline is not a saint; neither are the other girls. They need to learn that it’s a two-way street. This entire season, Caroline has been a bully to Teresa. The other girls are Caroline’s puppets. Even though Jacqueline claims that she is her own person, she is still persuaded by Queen Caroline. Teresa said it best by comparing her castmates to the characters of Alice in Wonderland:
“I felt like Alice all last season every time I filmed with the other women, because I never knew what to expect and they were insane in a different way almost every day…”
Teresa may not handle every situation perfectly, but we have to remember that she is human. No one on that show is perfect. Teresa does have a short temper, but for most of the arguments and underhanded remarks that go on between her and her castmates, she often brushes them off her shoulder.
With the reunion episode coming up, it’s a battlefield. Expect the other girls to go off on Teresa, but also expect Teresa to fire back with some feisty remarks. At this point, you can’t call Teresa out for defending herself. If Caroline or one of the other girls makes a nasty comment towards her, she should be able to fire back. Even during the season, the other girls referred to Teresa as a, “POS” and “media whore.” It’s not always best to fight fire with fire, but when someone like Teresa has a group of people who won’t stop attacking her with comments and accusations, do you expect her to just sit there and smile? Put yourself in her position and realize that she is actually a strong woman. Editing has just made Teresa to seem manipulative, when, in reality, she is just being set up by the pro-Manzo producers of the show.
You can say that Teresa is crazy. You can say that she in not the brightest crayon in the box. You can say a bunch of negative stuff, but at the end of the day, Teresa is the most successful of the five of them. Just like Nene Leakes and Bethenny Frankel, Teresa Giudice has made a name for herself and branded herself. Meanwhile, Caroline Manzo is still sitting at the Brownstone waiting for someone to buy a BLK. Water.
The author of this piece sounds like Teresa’s “blog writer”. Seriously…you couldn’t possibly watch the same show. The entire cast has had unflattering moments through out this season to the point where they all are irritating. Teresa has shown her true self…a selfish, materialistic, dishonest person. So please, save your breath…Teresa gave the producers the footage. You will never convince all the viewers that what we see/hear is simply a product of bad editing.
FINALLY! A reasonable, sane person commenting on Teresa! Yes, Teresa is NOT perfect. She obviously led a sheltered life and perhaps lacks in education, but that is no reason for the comments and the bullying she has endured. Her cousin’s husband by far has been the nastiest! He has a daughter too. What if someone spoke about his daughter that way due to jealousy of her hard work and success? I heard in the reunion Lauren Manzo asks Teresa what certain words mean that she picked out of her blog to prove how stupid she is and I find that mean and dirty. Major CEOs hire scriptwriters and blog-writers. It is in their own words their job is to make it grammar friendly etc. The relatives are only on the show for fame and money and to “take her down”. It’s so sad and good for Teresa never letting her guard down. She really is better off without them. A brother that responds to his sister congratulating him at his son’s Christening like that, calls his sister garbage on national tv, and so many other things is really pathetic. Carolyn Manzo is perhaps the biggest disappointment of all. The message I got from the show is make sure as a woman not to be too successful because you will get eaten alive. Sad. Very sad. Shame on the cast, and shame on Bravo. I hope the pro-Manzo producers get fired and a side note to the Manzos: 1-Governor Christie anyone? 2-the boys are repulsive, obnoxious and have no class. Just check out the “joke” the one said about Jesus and the Virgin Mary on the Bravo website, but a joke about 1/16th Italian is not palatable??? 3. Lauren, Lauren, Lauren….all I can say, buy a catcher’s mit and catch a clue. 4. Pathetic. BOTTOM LINE: The only thing Teresa is guilty of is looking good, being successful, and carrying on her Italian heritage with her family. Good times, bad times bring them on…she will survive, hold her head up high and now cower. THAT…is a star. Not the Gorgas, not the Manzos…definately NOT the Wakiles. Teresa –definately the classiest housewife.
Theresa is the only reason anyone cares about the housewife franchise period. Now there are Theresa clones in every franchise. The funny thing that people don’t realize though, is that Bravo “sets up” everything on all of these shows. It is a scripted reality show with characters playing “their perspective parts”. The improvisation is what makes some of these characters stand out. It is big business both for the character and the network. Its funny to see everyone buying into it. Theresa is interesting because she is a character in person and that translates to good scripted television. If you watch season 1 and 2, Caroline, her kids, Jacqueline, everyone “adored Joe and Theresa”, they also adored her perceived “status” for that is all they talked about: her money! All the other characters on this show are horrific human beings. Their characters also translate well…….Notice though that this past season (from her look, story line, set ups, etc), Bravo wanted to create a villain out of this “character”. They really goofed in their production, that’s all! Theresa will always have the most fans and fame! She has earned it and deserves it!
Loved your comments and completely agree! The other women are making themselves look bad by looking for reasons to hate Teresa. Yeah, she’s crazy but not the horrible person they’re trying so desperately to make her out to be. I wouldn’t have handled her situation as well as she has.
The author wrote a Very fair and un-biased article..Uh-huh. Although, I am not on any team, they’re all fame seeking narcs, I would not go so far as to say she’s the classiest. In all honesty, that award should go to Kathy.
I couldn’t agree with you more! It is so obvious to me that it is Melissa who is jealous of Teresa. When she was confronted by the bald guy at the fashion show, she knew EXACTLY who that was. You can see the wheels in her head spinning to see how she was going to get out of it. Then she proceeded to run around and make sure the less than 10 allies she had at the function knew what “Teresa had done”. These are not the actions of an innocent person, they are the actions of a desperate person. I am over this cast! Fire Caroline, Jacqueline, Kathy and Melissa!
Finally! Someone not having a bash feast with Tresea. It’s nice to hear something nice about her. To bad it couldn’t be from a friend or family member.

1. Why didn’t Jac run to tresea about her text first? No she ran straight to Melissa to tell her the info. Wouldn’t you talk to your so called friend first?
Last but least Melissa seems like a sister-in-law from hell. I would just come clean to Melissa and tell her my brother might love you but I don’t. Actually, I don’t even like you!
Teresa lives in my hometown. It’s a farm-town. Literally, her house is about a block from an orchard. Not exactly where her Italian villa belongs. Ok, I needed to vent.

Seriously I have never seen such an ugly human being as Theresa! She is manipulative and so jealous of her poor sister in law that she is pathetic. I hope her cute brother Joe cuts off all communications with his monster of a sister! Too bad Theresa’s kids are so darned cute. It was because of Caroline, Jacqueline, Kathy and all of the cute kids that I started watching the show in the first place. Has anyone noticed that throughout the season Theresa’s appearance just kept getting uglier and uglier? Honestly she should play Corilla DeVille in the next Dalmations movie. As far as a spin off show for Theresa and her train wreck of a life hey networks are full of idiots too!

If you mean classy with a “k” then maybe you might be onto something. Other than that, Teresa is a walking, talking nightmare. But the world is full of those, and they do need a hero, so bless all her fans’ black little hearts for supporting her insanity. She makes me cringe with embarrassment for her in just about every scene. She has a particular ghetto-esque comorbidity of borderline/narcissist traits that is very in vogue right now among women…personally I will be glad when this trend dies. We are all learning to emulate behaviors that really are not desirable.
Teresa is just controversial, that is why she sells. The classless and thick-headed out there need to have their heroes, and she seems to be martyring herself to their cause of stupidity and complete transparency. I find Melissa Gorga to be much ‘classier’ and much more intelligent in general. Kathy Wakile is a truly good person, I feel for all of Teresa’s female relatives in general for having to confront her mental incompetency on a recurring basis. My heart goes out to them.
