D.I.Y. Of The Week: Pre-Game With Fall Drinks

If college has taught me anything it’s been how to pre-game with excessively sweet drinks. I spent last night creating simple drinks eyeballing what I poured in my cup (you can guess how fabulous I’m feeling today). In honor of the autumnal equinox and it being Friday I give you the pre-game edition of DIY. To be seasonally appropriate all three drinks center around apples and have been inspired by my favorite drink special at No Idea Bar - a pint of  vodka & Apple Juice.

The first drink, I’d like to call the Dizzy Apple Picker. It’s a cross between a whiskey sour and flavored vodka soda. Variations on this can be done by simply changing one ingredient. Beware – this drink may result in a terrible next day headache. Cranberry-Apple juice is one of Duane Reade’s finest “Delish” beverages. Inspired by this and The Cranberries comes the Linger. The simplest of these three drinks is the Easy A – it involves only two ingredients, but no Emma Stone. Notable mentions not on this list: Spiked Apple Cider and Spiked Starbucks Spiced Apple Caramel.

Dizzy Apple Picker:

1 part Whiskey (or Scotch)
2 parts Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka (or replace with Apple juice)
2 parts Seltzer (or Ginger Ale)

The Linger:

1 parts Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka (or Stoli Gala Applik)
2 parts Cranberry Juice
1 Lime Wedge
Ice Cubes

Easy A:

1 part Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka (or Stoli Gala Applik)
1 part Ginger Ale

It somewhat (okay, greatly) pains me for you to compare any of these drinks to a whiskey sour, but this was super amusing to read.

Valid point. The apple juice doesn’t really equate to lemon juice aside from a tiny bit of tartness, not nearly as acidic as a Whiskey Sour.
