To dispel my feelings of anxiety surrounding the current economic climate, I turned to the conceptual pastime of pop music that made the most sense to me, and wrote down a list of seven things that are currently making me very happy. Of course the understanding was that somewhere the purveyors of these problems would supply the solutions as well, or at least that I would feel like Alec Baldwin and I could get down together to some hot tracks after it was over. Nobody seemed to assuage the difficulties inherent in the corporate paradox as well as Miley Cyrus, who’d cut some damn hot tracks to boot, so she made the list. 2. Alec Baldwin winning an Emmy.

3. Wearing jeans for the first time this semester, meaning it’s officially fall.

4. Bill Clinton becoming this year’s Al Gore.

5. John Malkovich creating a credible film character out of saying “What the fuck!” 75 times.

6. TV on the Radio.
