Britney Spears Comeback Rescheduled; K-Fed Needs Money

So we’ve all heard the 40-second Britney leak—which I’d totally link to except all the clips have seemingly been pulled by her people—of hew new single last week. Turns out she’s not happy with the finished product! (Turns out she also doesn’t like it when her fans listen to her leaked music.)

The new Britney single should have come out this past Monday, but it didn’t. Britney wanted to work on it a little more, so the official release is on hold until next Monday, September 29th. I’m really hoping that it’s just some fine-tuning and not, you know a total do-over.

It’s not usually a good sign when release dates are pushed back, in either the music or movie worlds; it usually means that the work’s audience didn’t respond well and the producers/filmmakers have a lot more work to do, all while scrambling to meet some sort of deadline. Pull through, Britney. And, uh, don’t get back together with K-Fed. Please.

…and…we at NYU care about this article because….?
Guess it’s a slow news day.
Actually, it’s not.

Normally presidential addresses don’t get covered in the Entertainment section.

Right. Rob–see the headers? Yeah, they’re there for a reason. This piece was for “entertainment.” In the national section I’m sure the President’s words will be discussed, and the economic crisis has been talked about very well. There’s room for both entertainment and politics on this web site.

Also: You probably won’t see much about the speech in my section, to be honest – Bush’s influence on the debate over the bill has been negligible as far as I can see. He’s astonishingly unpopular and politically irrelevant, and that’s been true for quite some time.

Sorry to send this thread so far off topic. How ’bout that new single?

From what I’ve heard, it’s like Blackout only about how Britney’s man is a womanizer. Like everyone guy she’s ever been with?

true, folks, very true.

the only item i would disagree with in response to your gang rebuttal is the “politically irrelevant” part. He is the president of the united states. Congress, mainstream media and the public have each given G. Bush a free pass each year to present, allowing him to skate into the sunset minus true investigations/hearings as related to WMDs, a needed Karl Rove subpoena for the Plame outing (Scooter Libby jumped on the grenade for everyone), etc etc etc.

I think it is sad that GW and Cheney have been allowed to run roughshod over the constitution and naive, trusting citizens, and they both are free to exit stage left — with supposed journalists (no offense nyu local, I’m speaking on the larger scale in the u.s.) saying that G. Bush is merely “politically irrelevant” at this point. Many journalists share your viewpoint, but I’m a journalist, and I totally disagree. He’s very relevant, since he has led our country into the toilet the past seven years based on lies, deceit and propaganda to start and maintain an unjust war that has helped to bankrupt us and lose all of our credibility around the world. Still not relevant?

Why wasn’t he impeached two years ago is a great question to ask. Nancy Pelosi, impeachment has been off the table since she came to office. Really? No wonder she got her job. So she could protect him from getting the boot.

My personal hope is that once he is out of office, he and cheney and others are tried for their crimes not only against Americans (see dennis kucinich’s impeachment resolutions for he and cheney), but the innocent Iraqi civilians that few Americans remember have lost their lives to the U.S. occupation aka “the war on terror”. The body count is well above 100,000. But maybe Brittany Spears’ new single is more important.

Sorry, you are correct, this is not entertainment (in the correct sense), but just my thoughts on GW’s significant relevance right now. As a nation, and specifically as journalists charged with serving as the checks and balances of improper actions, we need to fix what needs to be fixed, to investigate the crimes that have been committed, before we all just rush to move forward with our next president. If we don’t, it opens the door for the next guy/gal duo to be untouchable, to get away with everything once again.
