Kanye West Smashes Shit, Goes All Phil Collins

As the legion of Perez Hilton faithful are well aware, the Louis Vitton Don has been in the news for yet another temper tantrum, this time for going XFL on some dude’s camera. I guess a paparazzo was trying to capture Mr. West in some stage of celebrity—rocking a grey hoodie, boarding a plane, or whatever these lavish types do. But lest we forget, this guy is a rapper, too—except now he’s not—and this new song has me typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!

Yeezy debuted “Love Lockdown” on the VMAs and everyone was forced to reckon with the fact that dude loves auto-tune and that will not change between now and the release of what the internet says is called 808’s and Heartbreak. And so the world deals and I rejoice and preach more about the democratization of pop music and uh, “singing.”

The song is now in its third iteration, thanks largely in part to anonymous blog commenters and while old heads are salty that there’s no rapping, let’s be thankful we don’t have to hear another rhyme around the word “Klondike.”

Stream “Love Lockdown” on Kanye’s blog, or y’know, learn that everything is free online. And basking in this genre-slaying, deconstructionist overachiever’s bedroom experiment, remember the former Genesis drummer, his transcendent anthem and the greatest commercial of all time:

Yeah, this song definitely grew on me. Once I got over the whole “he’s not RAPPING thing” I realized that expanding creatively is kind of what being an artist is all about. And Kayne’s mighty talented.
