The Premier League Heats Up

It’s time to drop a bomb on countless Americans: In Western Europe, soccer season has finally begun. And as the summer transfer (a.k.a. trading) period comes to a close, many new faces will soon be making their debut in the Barclay’s English Premier League, the collection of teams that most Americans who are fans of the international game (and even call it “football”) tend to follow. Roman Pavlyuchenko, a Russian forward who has moved from Spartak Mascow in Russia to Tottenham Hotspur in North London, is one such face.

He is a player familiar to anyone who watched Euro 2008, but his exploits in the Russian Premier League are not as well known to us American fans. Strange, right? But instead of boring you with “statistics” and “expert opinions” about the player, how about some true insight from his supporters at the Fan Forum on Talk-sports.net?

“Oh my God! He is so hot,” says one fan.

Another commenter shares a similar sentiment: “I cannot explain how much I love him <3,” but furthers her point by stressing that, “His wife could go find someone else,” and that, she “will do everything to find him.”

Someone even weighed in from one of the greatest soccer nations in the world. “I’m an Italian guy and I think he’s veryyy hot.”

But not everyone agrees about the 26-year-old striker. “I do not like him just because he is good looking. I like him because he is really good at football and he is always happy and his smile is the finest.” Insightful point.

One fan even had a request for Roman in the upcoming season: “Suck my nipple.”

Welcome to Barclay’s English Premier League, Roman. I think that it’s safe to say that your entrance will lead to one of the most intriguing seasons that Tottenham Hotspur has ever seen.
