Open Thread: Gossip Girl Season 2 Premiere

Good morning, Lower East Siders.
So, last night’s big premiere wasn’t all fans had it cracked up to be. Is our best show ever turning out to be just another AVERAGE. TEENAGE. SOAP? Sure, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place when the handsome Chuck Bass still couldn’t make himself vulnerable for the loveliest of B’s, Ms. Blair Waldorf. But when Blair’s boring American arm candy-cum-British royalty boyfriend (huh?) drove by in a red convertible (really?) at just the right implausibly-timed moment afterward, the tears dried on their own.
Aw, looks like flamboyantly dressed rich boys aren’t the only ones having their hearts broken—pretentious college students and magazine writers are too! Be careful what you over-intellectualize—it just might still be for pre-adolescent girls. ‘Till next time!
xoxo,

It’s still the best show ever. Through all the expensive clothes, weird dinner parties, and strange freedom these 16-year-olds have (which can’t be chalked up to just the fact that they grew up in New York City), all the main characters still acted completely like teenagers, which is why the show is so good anyway - they embody high school so well.

Sighting! A miserable Joe Coscarelli watching Gossip Girl on Monday night. Cheer up J, at least you know that Lonely Boy is shorter than S. There is justice.
XOXO- Morgan

Remind me to link to Teenage Debauchery next time I want something refreshingly honest, unpretentious and anti-bourgeois.
