Gothamist reported yesterday that the MTA will be running the Nostalgia Train on the V line during each December Sunday, from 10 a.m Three kings download. to 4 p.m. Even if you don’t associate the MTA with any emotion besides frustration, this “Nostalgia Shoppers’ Special” might actually be worthy of a swipe.
The novelty is simple: the Nostalgia Train is dead-on replica of city subways in the mid-20th century, including wicker seats and ceiling fans all enclosed in train cars that look they just came from the Great Depression (the original one). Even the Rockettes made it on one subway ride last month, just like they did when your grandparents commuted to work!
The original trains were taken off the tracks in the 70′s and replaced by those steel, mustard-yellow cars you get sick while riding now. Apparently, the vintage trains were also incredibly humid, which is likely why MTA is running the Nostalgia Train on Sundays — Wall Street traders want no part of this “nostalgia.”
