FRIDAY
- CHROMEO DJ Set Party @ Webster Hall — 11 p.m.
This Montreal-based electrofunk duo (one of them is a Columbia student) has rocked Webster Hall before. This time, it’s an afterparty, but the actual show at Irving Plaza is sold out. Afterparties are not a bad thing. - Water Prom on Fire! @ WOW HAUS (Brooklyn) — 8 p.m.
Support this filmmaker’s campaign to save our water from toxic gas by bringing a prom date. $5 off if you bring your bike. That means you, Brooklyn hipster! - Big Apple Comic-Con begins @ Pier 94 — through Sunday
Come watch nerds foam at the mouth, as they always do at Comic-Con. Some big names are scheduled for this year, including William Shatner. Learn your klingon beforehand. - No Age @ New Museum — 8 p.m.
Just in case you fell in love with them at the Mystery Concert, this LA group has returned. This time without Raekwon.
SATURDAY
- Revive Pictures Rager @ Bar None — 11 p.m.
The Facebook event says it all: a few NYU students created a production company and got Bar None to sponsor their party, including awesome drink specials. School unity pays off. - Beer Pong Tournament @ Angels & Kings — 6 p.m.
So what if the State Liquor Authority ruled beer pong illegal? - Mile High with DJ Sean MF’n Roberts @ Piano’s — 12 a.m.
The DJ’s middle name is “Motherfuckin.” I think that’s enough reason to attend this party. - Dances of Vice: The Importance of Being Wilde @ Bond Street Theater
Horny literature geeks dress up in creepy 19th century attire. Just make sure that all record of you attending are erased the next morning.
SUNDAY
- 5th Annual Dog Day Masquerade @ Times Square (Broadway Plaza) — 1 p.m – 3 p.m.
I’m just going to copy and paste this: “Glamorous canine contenders of every kind will strut their stuff on the catwalk, flaunting the very latest in cutting-edge ‘woof couture’. Top prizes will be awarded to the dogs whose costumes best evoke Times Square’s past or present.” Yep, woof couture. - The Great Third Avenue Fair @ 3rd Ave. between 23rd st. & 34th st. — 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
While you’re at it, go meet some disillusioned NYU students at Gramercy.
