A packed house at the Bowery Poetry Club went back to junior high Sunday night courtesy of rapper (and NYU alum) Nyle. And yes, N’Sync was well heard.
The 90’s-themed show lasted late into the night, with Nyle and his band, The Naysayers, performing tracks off his Capstone EP until 4 a.m. His middle school comic-inspired song “X-Man” almost literally raised the roof.
But to the dismay of the generally intoxicated crowd, the group didn’t “Let the Beat Build.” And there was no girl with a banjo.
Also performing was NYU electropop group Menya. The trio somehow managed to perfectly cover Vanessa Carlton’s “White Houses” in between their debauched, foul-mouthed lyrics.
In between acts, the crowd of about 200 danced to vintage Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and all of the other groups that you’re too sentimental to delete from your iTunes library. The partying also included balloons, cheesy wall decorations and awkward dance circles – totally the bomb!

We’re Back and We Missed You | NYU Local
I wish I had paid better attention to Nyle’s FB events. This sounds like it was really fun.
Jess – it was awesome! It’s the first time I saw Nyle and Menya perform and I was so impressed. I go to a lot of concerts and they were better than any opening act I’ve ever seen.
this was ridiculous amounts of fun!
I love NYU Local
@Nyle Overheard at your show: “Other colleges have football games, we have hip hop shows”
Best show I’ve seen this year. Nyle and Menya are the new standard.
[...] yeah, so what if we have a soft spot for NYU alum Nyle and his mind-blowing band? We all loved his last performance at the Bowery Poetry Club, and now he’s got a gig at Webster Hall, which probably means you [...]

[...] Local does not technically recommend ignoring your boring Nat Sci lecture to read about a badass concert that you won’t want to miss next time around. But we can’t really stop you from [...]
