Running Low on Guns?
While many are still celebrating the election of Barack Obama as president, some are preparing for battle. Or so it seems, as the sales of firearms skyrocketed in the weeks after the election. The Daily News reported that the F.B.I did background checks on 374,510 prospective gun owners - 100,000 more than last year. People are worried about the President-Elect and his stance on gun control. Fearing he will take away their constitutional right to bear arms, people are out buying guns. The report explained that gun retailers in the city have not seen an increase in sales, but many New Yorkers get their guns out of state, in Pennsylvania and Florida.
With one of the toughest gun control laws in the country, New York gun advocates fear the Obama will create even stricter laws. And the fear is evident throughout the country where ammunition is running low in gun shops in Alaska and Georgia, as retailers are have special “Obama Sales”. It’s definitely easy to see that people “aren’t just clinging to their guns, as Obama said during the campaign, they’re stockpiling them.”

Carter White
The FACT is that the Brady Laws & related agenda always made a LOT of money for firearms retailers. Intellectually honest people will realize you cannot legislate behaviour!
An OBJECT is simply that. The actions that dictate it’s use will always be independent of the “thing”. Look at drugs, alcohol, automobiles, etc….. If someone is to be responsible with that object, they will be….if not; that object will always exist somewhere for someone to find.
We have an enormous amount of firearms laws already on he books.
What additional laws accomplish are “feel-good” stop gap measures to grab votes from uninformed individuals. We have had a multitude of lawmakers who push “gun control” or some other object control, but the problems continue!
We have had a “war on drugs” for decades now & it’s done SO MUCH to curb the problems associated with drugs that sarcasm doesn’t do it Justice (all puns intended).
It’s time to look at much more important issues! I dearly hope Obama will have the insight to grasp that any additional laws on objects will be window dressing for avoiding the tough & more complex answers that must be found to problems of dysfunctional behaviour.

I couldn’t agree more with Carter White’s opinion.

I completely agree with Carter White, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it scares me that so many people are buying guns, it makes me want to buy a gun and I hate guns.

These people are stupid. Just as stupid as the ones who have literally asked the judge to push back their trial to after the inauguration date, because they believed Obama is going to pardon all the black people in America.
